(2012)

THE TOUR is a guided tour around Longyearbyen, the main settlement on the High Arctic archipelago of Svalbard. The film reflects Longyearbyen as a particularly accessible and well-infrastructured location in the Arctic, characterized by mobility and temporality, while addressing the relation between image-making and physical seasonal presences on Svalbard. It does so with a focus on three locally employed taxi drivers from Norway, Denmark and Russia, but also with a focus on filmic strategies as forms of guiding through a reflexive usage of the distinctive expressive structures embedded in the relation between image and sound.
